Hi Crafty Friends!
The monthly Hero Arts Stay Crafty Challenge ends August 6th and I had just enough time to create for it. The theme of the month is "Here comes the sun." Last month I suffered the loss of my sister, so I am finding my way back to crafting. With that being said, she was a source of inspiration for this card as her favorite color was orange. So I knew I wanted to incorporate that into my card, plus when I think about the sun or summer, yellow and orange pop into my head.
I die cut the Bees and Flowers Fancy Dies six times in preparation to color. I knew I wanted an abundance of flowers, so I made sure I had more than enough. From there I began to color using my Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend Makers. I used citrus yellow for the centers, dull green for the stems, orange for the orange flowers, and ice grey to add shadowing to the white.
For the vase, I used Honey Pot Fancy Die and colored in using the turquoise Tri-Blend marker. I added the flower die cut from the Bees and Flowers Fancy Dies and ran that back through with the honey pot die to add the cuts and scores. Once I found the perfect placement for the flowers inside the honey pot turned vase, I adhered it down to a matted pieces of cardstock from the Harvest Paper Pad. I added splatter using a white paint pen.
I went back in and added highlights with my white gel pen. The final touch was a hot foiled sentiment from Pinkfresh. I love the contrast of colors and the cheer this card brings. Let me know what you think down below.
Happy Crafting,
Natasha
