Sharing Scoops of FUN

Pink ice cream cone on a card with "You're Scoops of Fun" text. Sprinkles and pastel background evoke playful mood.

Hi everyone! Natasha of @PoliteCreations, sharing a fun card today! You can also find this tutorial on the Cardstock Warehouse Blog. It is so hot here in Texas, making it perfect ice cream weather. Using that as my inspiration, I created a Fun Scoop!

Craft papers and die-cuts on a black grid background. Pink, orange, yellow, and beige papers feature basketball hoop designs.

I began by die cutting all of my pieces out. I chose to create an ice cream cone from the die set, so I am using all of the layers to create that + the regular sprinkles. I want the ice cream to be strawberry flavored, so I cut the large ice cream scoops twice from Rose Quartz. The smaller layering piece for the scoop was cut twice from Flamingo. You can reference the above picture to see how the dies were matched with the cardstock.

The arched sentiment backer was cut from vellum. The melting layer and the arched sentiment were cut from the White Diamond Glitter paper. FUN was cut from Flamingo as well.

Two pink ice cream cutouts and a brown waffle cone on a black grid background. Simple, playful design.

The layering guide that comes with this Honey Bee die set is very helpful. I first used wet adhesive to create the ice cream cone. I then used small foam squares to add the Flamingo layer onto the ice cream scoops.

I then added my scoops to the cone using foam squares. I wanted this ice cream cone to be dimensional and lifelike. I then went in with liquid adhesive and carefully placed sprinkles.

I then assembled FUN by using foam squares to add the melting ice cream to the top of each letter. It looked plain, so I grabbed a pink colored pencil and drew lines to mimic the cone. It would have been easier to do this before adding the drips on top, so if you would like to have this look on your letters, add the lines first. I also adhered the arched sentiment letters and vellum backer together with wet glue.

I wanted to make a fun background, so I grabbed an A2 panel of the Stardream Crystal cardstock and sprayed the Spun Sugar Spray onto it. I wanted to have a splatter like effect to mimic melted ice cream. It may be hard to see in the pictures, but the spray against the shimmer of the cardstock is beautiful!

Finally, I assembled everything using foam squares. Ensure that the A2 panel is completely dry before doing this so you have the best adhesion. I realized that I still had quite a few sprinkles left, so I added them to the top of the FUN. That added so much more to the card.

I also used the same supplies to create another birthday card.
