Hidden Spirals Tutorial

I have created 2 tutorials to show you how you can hide the spirals of your cinched books.

First, let's create a 6.5" x 6.5" mini album with a SQUARED spine.

Supplies & Measurements:

[2] - 8" x 8 3/8" Pieces of cardstock

Score at 3/4" and 7 1/4" on both the 8" and 8 3/8" side

[2] - 6.5" x 6.5" Chipboard pieces

[1] - 1" x 6.5" Chipboard piece

[1] - 6" x 12" Piece of cardstock**

Score at 6". Fold in half and score at 1/2" from the score line.

**Consider a 6" x 14" piece of cardstock if you would like this page to be the mats for the inside covers of your album. Adjust your first score to 7".

[1] - Stack of 6" x 6" pages

Cinch/Mini Cinch

  1. Create a tab on one of the 1 1/8" edges of your cardstock. Overlap and ahere this section over the other 1 1/8" edge. Adhere the chipboard, wrapping any overhang over the chipboard. This is your album cover.

  2. Punch and cinch your pages. The page you folded in half should be on top with the design side you would like to see facing you. Once cinched, fold the top of the folded sheet back. Adhere those two sides down into the album cover.

  3. You know have your album. Check out the youtube video above for more information.

Now, let's create a 6.5" x 6.5" mini album with a ROUNDED spine.

Supplies & Measurements:

[2] - 8" x 8" Pieces of cardstock

Score at 3/4" on all sides

[2] - 6.5" x 6.5" Chipboard pieces

[1] - 1" x 6.5" Chipboard piece

Cut into 4 1/4" x 6.5" Strips

[1] - 5" x 11" Piece of cardstock -- This will cover the spine.

Score at 2 1/4" at top and bottom along the 5" side.

Score the middle rectangle at 2 1/2", 3", 3 1/4", 31/2", 3 3/4", 4", 4 1/2"

[1] - 6" x 12" Piece of cardstock**

Score at 6". Fold in half and score at 1/2" from the score line.

**Consider a 6" x 14" piece of cardstock if you would like this page to be the mats for the inside covers of your album. Adjust your first score to 7".

  1. Cover the 2 6.5" x 6.5" pieces of chipboard with your 8" x 8" cardstock.

  2. Take you 4 - 1/4" strips, and adhere them to the 1/4" sections of the scored spine cardstock. Ensure that each piece does NOT touch. Cut and remove the excess rectangles from each corner of the cardstock for the spine. Fold over all edges and adhere. There should be a section on each side of the chipboard pieces that is simply paper adhered to paper.

  3. Mold your spine to be curved. The gaps between your chipboard pieces should help with that. Once you have the desired curve, adhere the front and back covers to the sections of the spine that are simply paper adhered to paper.

  4. Punch and cinch your pages. The page you folded in half should be on top with the design side you would like to see facing you. Once cinched, fold the top of the folded sheet back. Adhere those two sides down into the album cover.

  5. You know have your album. Check out the youtube video above for more information.
